The Philippines hosts "Educational Course on Thrombosis” 10/30,2013 The Philippine Society of Vascular Medicine (PSVM) and the Philippine Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (PSHBT) will jointly host the International Society of Thrombosis (ISTH) "Educational Course on Thrombosis: Asian Perspective” on November 8-9, 2013 at the DAPA Hall of the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City. The Chairman of the ISTH Educational Committee, Prof. Andreas Greinacher, MD, approved of this first ever ISTH - sponsored Educational Course in the ASEAN Region. This was made possible through the efforts of Dr. Maria Teresa B. Abola, Past PSVM President and an APSTH member who serves as the adviser and convenor with Dr. Patricio P. Palmes (PSVM) as the Overall Chairman and Dr. Ma. Angelina A. Mirasol (PSHBT) as Co-Chairman of the Organizing Committee. Aside from a host of local specialists on thrombosis and hemostasis comprising the course faculty, the ISTH facilitated the participation of foreign experts---Drs. Lee Lai Heng, Chris Ward, Yukio Ozaki, and Claire McLintock who will make this course an excellent learning experience among resident physicians, fellows-in-training, clinicians, young researchers/scientists, and other allied professionals. The ISTH has emphasized the educational value of this activity and will even provide all participants a complimentary one-year membership to this prestigious organization.
